i know there have been other posts regarding cramps and others.
however i did not find what i'm looking for.

mainly, i would like to know if there is any way of increasing blood
circulation through, for an example massage. or any other mechanical
mean, such as putting the feet at a higher/lower position.

thank you.

i have read posts indicating tens of reasons that cause cramps. do you
know anymore?

also, please note it is not about cramps. also, the person's left foot
feels extremely cold at night, impeding her from sleeping.

the doctors checked, and most likely the problem is poor blood
circulation. so any mechanical way of increasing it (specially massage
or something like that) would be appreciated, specially because drugs
would most likely be incompatible with an already sensitive ingestion
of food and medicine.

thank you very much :)
If indeed the problem is with circulation, then the exact cause needs to be
found. Has this person seen a vascular surgeon? If not, they should.
There is an assortment of medical hosiery that can help with some forms of
circulation problems. But it is not something you can buy without getting a
Dr. to right a prescription for it. Okay, technically you *can* buy it with
no prescription, but you need the Dr. to evaluate so you know you are buying
the right thing. The hosiery is very expensive and you don't want to waste
your money buying the wrong thing.

Hi
Not an answer to your main query, but I have reduced my cramps by
wearing socks to bed on cooler nights. They must be loose socks or
you just add to your circulation problems.

Re:cramps and feeling of coldness in left foot

well, the person is of old age, and has other health problems. her
kidneys are not functional, so she must do dyalisis. this, in my
unknowing opinion should rather explain the circulation problems.
thank you for your tips on how to fix cramps during the night, i have
already found a few posts with that. what i was really wanting to find
was, as i said, some mechanical mean of improving circulation.
massage, position of the feet... things like this.
as i understand it from another post, there are several different
causes that difficult blood circulation. I'm looking for some sort of
technique that improves blood circulation day by day. If not, a
technique that'll only improve it during the night will be just as
fine :)
Thanks again everybody.

There is a "leg" massager boot currently being advertised on U.S. TV
during the off-hours (the cheap rates). I have no idea if it works, or
even the exact price, though it is advertised in a fashion which makes one
distrust the quality.
Orthopedic patients in hospitals are often fitted with leg massagers which
work via compressed air pulses, controlled with a small microprocessor and
air pump. I wore one for 4 days after my hip replacement.
I would imagine that the hospital set-up is fantastically expensive for home
use, but maybe your insurance might cover one.

Old Al

Trying that sort of thing without first consulting a doc can
be extremely dangerous. If the person in question has occluded veins
snd you try to mechanically increase circulation, you could cause a
heart attack or stroke. I would ask a doc what needs to be done, esp.
for someone with kidney problems.

G'day Alan,

I also suffere from sometimes violent cramps. Sometimes my calfs, sometimes
both feet, but more severely my right foot and lower leg, where I had a
severe injury nine years ago. In that latter case it feels as if my lower
leg and foot are turning to concrete - and very painful. In the Melbourne
winter weather we're currently having I sleep with the electric blanket on 1
and sometimes 2, but to relieve this excruciating stiffness I have at times
turned it up to an uncomfortable 3. All this time my feet feel quite warm,
but they are prone to feeling cold at times. My cramps happen only when I am
lying down.

Hi Henry
Maybe you need to come up here and visit - it's 26c today, although
the nights can be cool.
I lived in Melbourne (Waverley) for thirty years. That's why I now
live in Pottsville; half our population up here arrive every Easter
from the south and return in time for the Grand Final. Similar to the
snow-birds in the US - we call them Mexicans (from
south-of-the-border).
My cramps have increased in frequency and severity since diagnosis but
I find similar stories on my other medical list, so it may not be to
do with the T2.
There have been times when I thought the cramping muscle, usually
lower leg or foot, would actually break the bone. So far it hasn't,
but I'm sure you know what I mean.
My wife occasionally hums "you can keep your SOCKS on..."
Cheers Alan
