2003-07-23 08:48:02 AM
hi there,
been living with type 1 diabetes for 14 years now. I've never been
able to attain tight control. i don't get too many lows and my a1c was
like 8.5 last time i checked.(about 4 months ago) I don't want to back
to my previus endocrinologist. she's a real drag and is very "cold".
anyway im in nyc. is anybody really happy with their doc? i called
Joslin and they reccomended a doc who's actually type 1.
the one thing i took with me from dr. Farbisenau was to join a group.
so here i am. hi =)

Re:new to the group

Did you go through IF treatments to becom pg? Just wondering, as this is
a group for women who have become pg after the long road of IF.
Also, anyway you can type in plain text? All that jazz takes to long to
come up. Thanks!

Re:new to the group

This is the first time I have joined a group. I don't want to seem
ignorant, but I'm not sure what some of the abbreviations stand for.
DH means husband, but BFN? I believe it stands for period, but that is
about all I know. I don't want to ask stupid questions, but I might.
If I do please forgive me. I have been trying for three years to have a
baby, but it hasn't happened. I had a miscarriage last Christmas. I
haven't been able to get pregnant again. I have had several IUIs with
no luck (last attempt ended Monday). My doctor even made the
statement,"You don't do anything the easy way do you?" He wasn't being
sarcastic, but he sure spoke the truth. Nothing about this has been
easy. I'm very confused and scared. We have to go talk to the doctor
to figure out the next step. This is the one place I feel like women
know how I feel. I hope everyone has a good holiday.

Re:new to the group

Hi Minnie, it means "big f---ing negative" as in results of pg test.
I'm sorry about your miscarriage. I really hope you won't have to stay
primary much longer!

Re:new to the group

Minnie,
I am new to the group too. Yep, nothing about this is easy. I just went
through my first IVF cycle and got the news 2 days after Christmas,
that my blood test was negative. We were devastated, to say the least.
We had what the RE told us was "the perfect IVF cycle". It couldn't
have gone better. The IVF cycle was a little scary, and uncomfortable
at times......but worth every shot you have to take in the butt if it
works. I told my hubby (DH - dear husband) that I would gladly double
my shots and take them for the entire 9 months if we could just get
this to work. I, like you, had several IUI attempts too. Anyway Minnie,
(Minnie was my favorite aunt's name :-).....here is a list of
abbreviations that might help you. Feel free to email me directly if
you want, as well as post to the group. I know what you are going
through.
Kind Regards,

Don't worry! It took me a LONG time to "get" all the abbreviations!
It's great that you joined us (although it sucks that you even have to be
here).
This is a great place for comfort and understanding.

Re:new to the group

Hi, I just happened on this site today and already feel better after
reading all of these messages. I've done Clomid for 5 months now, IUI
once. I went in for an ultrasound this morning but conditions weren't
right for IUI this month. I feel the Clomid was a big waste and have
been very depressed lately. My DH has been very helpful and
comforting, but he doesn't know anything yet because he's home sleeping
(works 3rd shift). Thanks for the abbreviations. Luckily, I didn't
have to wonder long before finding this topic. I think I'll continue
reading -- it's very helpful.

Re:new to the group

Thank you so much for the information. Now I can follow some of the
messages easier. My doctor has recommended going to shots instead of
pills with IUI. If we don't have any luck after 2 tries with the
shots, we go to IVF. I desperately don't want to do IVF, but I'll do
it if that is what it takes. At this point, I would push a peanut down
the street with my nose in a clown suit if it would give me a baby. I
dearly hope everyone in this group becomes pregnant. I wouldn't wish
this misery on my worst enemy.

Re:new to the group

Thanks for the peanut story, Minnie... it really made me laugh. I'm
feeling much better today. Yesterday I went for a run on the indoor
track at our high school. Haven't done that in a while- felt good.

Re:new to the group

Hi,
I've been hanging around here for a couple weeks, so let me introduce
myself. My name is Lisa and my husband and I have been TTC for a
little over a year. Growing up, they always try to scare you by making
it seem so easy to get pregnant, so I think just stop the pill and it
will happen. If only it were that easy. Anyway, we've tried 3 IUIs
and 4 months of clomid alone. My husband was sick and it affected his
fertility, and my cycles are screwed up(but I respond well to clomid).
Anyway, the last IUI we did about 4 months ago, my husband's count was
getting close to normal. I'm writing because I really need some people
to talk to that understand. I don't know why this is happening. Since
I was a little girl, I planned my life on becoming a mother one day. I
didn't put off having kids for a career or anything. Sorry to go on so
long, but if anyone wants to talk please email me. Thanks.
